Elwood Paul Savoy

Elwood Paul Savoy, age 93, passed away peacefully at BellaRose Nursing and Rehab in Garner, NC, on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Elwood was born on May 30, 1931, in Brewer, Maine to the late, James Thomas Savoy and Esther Lacrosse Savoy Allen.

He was educated in the Brewer school system and later earned his GED in Biddeford, ME, in 1977. Elwood proudly served in the US Navy, retiring in 1972. He served in Korea and Vietnam on the USS WASP and numerous other ships. Following his retirement from the Navy, he began a career at Westpoint Stevens Textile Company, retiring in 1983.

In 2011, he moved to Wendell, NC and later to Knightdale, NC, to live with his son, Danny and daughter-in-law, Grace.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Edward Savoy; other brothers, James, Arthur and John Savoy; and two sisters, Eleanor Hyman and Greta Ayer.

He is survived by his three sons, James (Carol), Daniel (Grace) and Timothy Savoy; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He will be interred at a US Veteran's Cemetery, date and time to be determined.
