Elizabeth Daniel Morton , 90, of Raleigh, NC died at home on July 5, 2023. Born in Berea, Granville County, NC on May 11, 1933, she was a graduate of Berea High School -- Class of 1952 and Fuller Business School. She enjoyed entertaining and had many dinners and parties for more than a hundred friends and family, including the “Boo Stew” for over 25 years. She enjoyed traveling near and far with her husband, Ed, to all 50 states and more than thirty countries.
Libby was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her most cherished moments were spent with her husband, family and friends. She took pride in the activities of her three children, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Libby is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Ed; her sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Hope Morton and Jason and Janet Morton of Raleigh, and daughter and son-in-law, Cornelia and Bryan Poer of Durham; grandchildren, Miriam and Jake Hill, Chris and Juliann Morton, Patrick Poer, Elizabeth and John Lee, and Alison and Nick Rotenberry, great grandchildren, Eli Thomas Hill, Camden James Morton, Owen Curtis Hill, Finley Elizabeth Lee, and Mackenzie Lee, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
Libby was preceded in death by her parents, Graham Baird Daniel and Hettie Beatrice Blackwell Daniel; brothers, Howerton Graham Daniel, Russell Edwards Daniel, and Thomas Lewis Daniel; and sisters, Virginia Bland Daniel Adcock, Louise Thomas Daniel Murray, and Edith Blackwell Daniel Currin.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, Raleigh. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM. Interment at 3:00 p.m. Tranquility Cemetery, Old Highway 96 , north of Oxford, NC.
