I first met David when I played midget league football.  His team beat the team I played on for the league championship that year. Knew David some in high school and found out we both shared the same birthday. However we didn’t become good friends until we attended ECU and both majored in accounting. We had many classes’ together, played cards, went downtown and shared rides back home.  We both started the MBA program at ECU at the same time.  I do not know if I would have attended or earned my degree without David’s help and support. We attended many ECU football games together, including the come from behind victory at the Peach Bowl.  I was honored to serve as his best man at his wedding that produced three beautiful children.  David was dependable, steady, and persistent.  I am a better person today because of knowing him. Unfortunately over the years our lives diverged and I had lost contact with David.  It was my loss.  My deepest sympathy goes out to his family. I know he will be missed.

It is with deep sorrow that fills my heart,  as I sit here and remember my Friend David Floyd.   As friends at BWCO, David was a guy that you would enjoy sitting around the lunch table or at beaks talking about every day things, sports, family, our work family, and things that were going on as our company was growing and going trough all the corporate decisions.   And let's not forget about our ECU Pirates!  David was a true fan and loyal to this university.  We couldn't wait to discus the football games in the fall and all other sports on Mondays.  David and I became friends soon after he was hired at BWCO.  I was coaching our men's and coed softball teams and when David approached me to join our teams.  I knew David would make an impact on a lot of people.  David loved life, friends, work, and most of all his family.  After the BWCO and Glaxo days, we lost contact for a while.  David had started his family and was on top of the world.  A few years later, I had the opportunity to catch up with David on a flight out of RTP headed west.  I have often thought about that conversation many times and how David was so proud of his children and the man he became.  When I heard of David's passing, I knew many lives would be changed again, as well as mine.  To David's children and family, my heart goes out to you at this time of sorrow and loss.  David was a great person, father, brother, and my friend.  He will be missed by all those who meant the most to him!  Heaven has welcomed a new Angel!  Rest in Peace My Friend.  Fairways and Greens my Friend!

David was an RRHS classmate and friend. I will always remember the spades card games at “The Rec”.  He was a good player and partner. In college I think about the App State - ECU football games when we would meet up in Greenville or Boone. My sympathies and Prayers go out to the family.  May God’s peace grant you comfort. 

In the summer of  ‘67, David was my center fielder for the Akers Elementary midget league team .  He wore a red cap and patrolled the outfield like a little “pro”.  I knew since he was a Floyd, he had to be top notch. My prayers go out for his family, especially his brother and sisters who I went to school with and later worked with as well. God Bless. 

When I think of David, I think of efficient, dependable and popcorn lover who will truly be missed at Mallinckrodt.  I enjoyed having the same birthday Cinco de Mayo.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.


Seeing the picture of you with your children, I said, "Good for you, David. Well done."
I often think about the lunchtime Little League discussions you, Chester, Roy, and I had. Those were good days. Rest in Peace... coach.

David, I'm going to miss walking down the hall to your office and saying "David I need".....and you immediately hitting that blasted "No" button that you keep on your desk.... I miss you "Dr. No"
