Claire is survived by; daughter Susan Alford Allen, husband Blaine, children Alexa and Aaron Allen; daughter, Janice Dorsey Sherron, children John Dorsey and Jamie Sherron, sisters, Louise (Lewis) Choplin, Alice (Jimmy) Ray, brother, Henry (Billie) Lowery and sister - in- law Margaret (Jerry) Barnes.
Preceding her in death was her sister, Carolyn Allen and husband Donald. Claire will be greatly missed by her beloved dog and protector, Jax.
Claire was born on July 20,1936 in Wake County to the late Ruben Alford and Bessie Rogers Lowery. She graduated from high school in 1954 from Wake Forest High School. On September 7, 1956 she married John Robert “Bobby” Alford. Claire and Bobby were married for 60 years before Bobby passed away on July 21, 2017.
Claire will be remembered by her grandchildren for all their many camping trips, summers at Edisto Beach, SC and her homemade spaghetti dinners.
A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11:00 am, at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Claire’s life.
A big thank you to all the staff, nurses and physicians at UNC Rex Cancer Center, 117 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh, NC for all their support, care and laughs that was shared with Claire and her family during her many visits.
