Charles was born in Raleigh on October 3, 1930 to the late Bond Jackson and Nettie Bailey. His close friends and family knew him as Charlie and many grand and great grand kids called him PaPa.
He attended Hugh Morrison High and from there, made a memorious career in the military. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served for 4 years. Next, he joined the Army National Guard where he served for over 30 years and retired as an auditor while achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. His favorite past times were going to Hawaii with friends and family, and a love of capturing memories through photography. In his retirement years, he was actively involved in volunteering at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Raleigh.
Charles is survived by the beloved Louise Jackson. His children: Eddie Jackson, Michael Jackson, and Beth Rosato. Grandchildren: Jody Newsome, Kelly Allen, Blair Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Noah Rosato, and Grace Rosato. Brothers: Wiley Jackson and Donnie Jackson. Charles is also survived by 5 Great Grandchildren and many other loved ones, and friends.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, and his Sister Sue Dillard and Brother Titus Jackson.
A celebration of life and visitation for Charlie will be held on Monday, July 15th from 4 - 7pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Jackson family has requested that visitors wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt in honor of Charlie's love for the Islands.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 16th at 10am at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St Jude Children's Hospital.
