Charles “Chuck” Leroy Hodges Jr., a man of great character, intellect, and devotion, passed away peacefully after a resolute battle with prostate cancer. Born in Philadelphia to Roy and Gladys Hodges, Chuck grew up in Kensington alongside his sisters, Liz and Barbara, enjoying a vibrant childhood during an extraordinary time in America.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Chuck was a proud ROTC cadet and member of Phi Gamma Delta. Upon graduation, he married his lifelong love, Letitia Calby, beginning a remarkable partnership of over 60 years.
Chuck served as Operations Officer aboard a Pacific Fleet destroyer, cherishing the opportunity to see the world. After four years, he left the Navy and embarked on a distinguished 30-plus-year career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation. During this time, he earned his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and rose through the ranks to become a trusted leader.
Settling in Raleigh, NC, Chuck and Tish found their haven, becoming active members of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, North Ridge Country Club, and the sailing community of Oriental aboard their beloved boat, Auralia. A man of many talents, Chuck delighted in singing, golf, gardening, and later in life, hunting.
He is survived by his children, Lee; Daniel and wife Monica; Kristin and husband Kevin; and son-in-law Rafael; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Susan. Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and purpose—a life truly well-lived.
A service to honor and celebrate Chuck's life will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 100 E. Peace St. Raleigh, NC. A reception will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
