Carol Choplin McDuffie, 84, of Raleigh, NC passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Carol was born in Yadkin County, NC and was raised in Winston-Salem, NC graduating from RJ Reynolds High School. She was married to her late husband David Paul McDuffie, Jr. in February of 1957; they were married for 45 years. Together, they raised their two children and opened The Casual Shoppe of Raleigh; a successful ladies retail clothing store. Those that knew her, knew she lived a life of style and elegance.
She loved her children, son Kerry (wife, Sharon) of Knoxville, TN and daughter Lynn (husband, Wydell) of Fuquay-Varina, NC and her grandchildren, Jennifer Eidemiller (husband, Chad) of Mount Vernon, MO, Bradley McDuffie (wife, Caitlyn) of Cleveland GA, Morgan Fleming and Whitney Soden (husband, Charlie) both of Cary, NC and seven precious great-grandchildren. She was was also preceded in death by her parents Wesley Clark and Irene Choplin, her brothers Joe Choplin of Winston Salem, Dennis Choplin of Kearney, Nebraska and Charles Choplin of Winston Salem.
In addition to her children, grands and great-grands, she is survived by her sister-in-laws, Olivia Choplin of Winston-Salem, Faye Gardner of Winston-Salem, Kathy Meacombs (husband, Harold) of Middlesex, NC and many loved nieces and nephews as well as special friends; you know who you are, we love you.
The family would like to thank you for your prayers and support as we remember and celebrate our mom and ‘Ana's (grand's name for her) home going. She is whole now, both mind and body. “Only one life ‘twill soon be passed, only what’s done for Christ will last.” - words from a poem by CT Studd 1931.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
