He was born in Altoona, PA, son of Lonnie Lee Hrzic (David) and Terry McConnell (Leslie), who survive him.
Brian is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Jill (Gicking), and sons, Ethan and Parker, also of Raleigh. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Tammy Fasick (Chris), Dana Francis (Joe) and Andy McConnell (Emily); numerous nieces and nephews, along with his paternal grandmother, Edna McConnell.
He was preceded in death by Al and June Burchner, his maternal grandparents; and Paul McConnell, his paternal grandfather.
Brian was a 1991 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and a 1995 graduate of Temple University. He worked for several years at Sunoco Logistics company, and then spent his time as a devoted stay-at-home father coaching, volunteering, running concession stands and cheering on his two boys and his favorite sports teams, the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brian was a member of Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church in Raleigh where he was an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.
Brian loved playing tennis, taking his dog Doc on long walks, traveling, cooking, making Christmas Extravaganza videos, spending time with his many friends from different countries and sharing coffee breaks with his wife.
A private funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary's St. in Raleigh, with livestreaming beginning at 10:55 am.
