Brenda was born in Richmond, VA on July 2, 1942. She graduated from Douglas Southall Freeman High School and moved to Raleigh with her husband, Larry, in 1972 where they raised their family.
Brenda was married to Larry Bruce Stevens on February 21, 1965 for 27 years prior to Larry’s death in 1992.
Brenda worked as an Administrative Assistant for the EPA in Research Triangle Park, NC and Haliburton Raleigh for many years after raising her four children as a stay at home mother. She loved her family greatly and they were her main priority throughout her life. Her favorite phrase was, “I love you Big!”
Brenda was a music enthusiast and loved dancing around the house with her husband, children, grandchildren or anyone else she could get to dance. Grandma and Pop Pop spent their weekends with their children and doting on their grandchildren; Eddie, Rachael, Jeremy, Samantha, Emily, Larry III and Oliver. She was immensely loved by all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as siblings, nieces and nephews and remained beloved and surrounded by all even on her last earthly day.
Brenda is survived by her four children, Rebecca Stevens Alliss and Randy of Denver, NC, Beth Stevens Jones and Mike of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Jennifer Stevens of Garner, NC and Larry Stevens Jr. of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Lori Stevens Belcher and Mike of Richmond, VA.
Additionally, Brenda is survived by her seven grandchildren Edward Thomas Jones III and Liss of Raleigh, NC, Rachael Jones Lam Yuen of Raleigh, NC, Jeremy Michael Jones of Durham, NC, Samantha Price Gradle and Rick of Raleigh, NC, Emily Elena Alliss of Philadelphia, PA, Larry Bruce Stevens III of New York, NY, Oliver Adli Alliss of Arlington, VA, step grandchild Gracie Belcher, great grandchildren; Lincoln, Maya, Cali, Luca and Harper, Sister Betty Ball Galan, Nieces and Nephews Melinda Galan Wallace, Jenny Galan Vithoulkas, Christopher Ball and Brad Ball, Sister-in-Law Anne Ball and Brother-in-Law Butch Stevens as well as many other family, friends and neighbors.
Brenda is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Larry Bruce Stevens, Parents Harry and Elizabeth Ball of Richmond, VA, Brothers Carol, Douglas and Thomas Ball.
The celebration of life will be held at 3 pm Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. Visitation will be held immediately prior at 1 pm Sunday, March 5 at Brown Wynne.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in Brenda's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org; and Autoimmune Association, https://autoimmune.org/ or to a charity of your choice.
