Billy was born in Dunn, North Carolina on Feb 21, 1935 to C. A. and Pearl Roberson. He grew up in Dunn, NC where he attended high school and college. He met the love of his life, Shirley Ann Nunn of West Virginia while she was playing the piano and organ for the Gospel Tabernacle in Dunn. They have been married for 68 years. They were married on Aug 31, 1955 in Falcon, NC.
He loved fishing and NC State Football. He went fishing in Alaska each summer for several years and took his children and grandchildren fishing during their annual Holden Beach vacation. He enjoyed attending the NC State football games and taking his wife and children with him. He was a true Wolfpack Fan in every way. Go Pack!
Billy managed several Roses stores before becoming Vice President of Marketing for the retail chain. In 1974 he moved his family to Raleigh to open his own business. He owned and operated a wholesale distributing business called Design Materials until he retired in 2008.
Billy was active at the Capital Church in his attendance and giving. He served in many capacities at the church over the years including Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, deacon, usher, and wherever he was needed. In his later years he loved to help beautify the landscape at the church.
Billy is survived by his wife, Shirley, daughters Debbie Roberson of Garner, Susie and husband Mike Carter of Sneads Ferry, Patty Roberson of Raleigh, Teresa and husband Doug Pratt of Garner, and son Billy Brian Roberson Jr of Raleigh. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Robert Roberson, Peggy West, Patsy Carroll, Tommy Roberson, and David Roberson, 3 grandchildren, Tres Brafford, Kimberly Pagano, and Rebekah Roberson, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents CA & Pearl Roberson, brother CA Roberson Jr, daughter Stephanie Roberson, and grandchildren Michael Roberson, Jason Carter, and Chris Brafford.
The celebration of life will be held at The Capital Church at 10 am Monday, Feb 12th. Visitation will be held at 9 am before the service. Friends can visit with the family following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel College. The family would like to thank you for your continued prayers.
