The family is in my thoughts.  Audrey became a very dear friend in 1980 and was more than instrumental in my successful matriculation at Meredith.  She was a wonderful woman, and will ever be remembered for her willingness to include me in her inner circle of Meredith Angels.  Rest in peace my dear friend.

Thinking about you all of you during this sad time.

Your Mother saved my life. Meredith College had just begun the interior design department. As a returning student benefiting from the WINGS program, women in new goal settings, I very shyly inquired about financial aid available. Mrs. Gardner led me to her office where she began to talk with me about where I was from, she looked at my transcripts from NCSU which clearly showed I was not on a fast track to graduation. I was supporting myself and paying for college. She calmly said "I think we can give you a full scholarship". In complete disbelief, I left her office. How could I possibly be eligible for such a gift. Surely they will just forget about me. But that did not happen. Two weeks later I received a letter explaining I was the recipient  of a National Endowment Scholarship. After graduation from Meredith I went on to a very successful career as an Interior Designer. I have employed other graduates and interns from Meredith in the belief that we are here to help one another. Just as your Mother helped me. She was a fine woman.

My prayers are with Audrey's family.I havefond memories of Audrey when she was living across the street from me in the Woods of Greystone.We would share stories puzzles and going out to eat.Loved Miss Kitty.Audrey was such a caring,encouraging lady and I miss her!

During my time at Meredith College as a student, Mrs. Garner was always there to answer questions, give a hug of encouragement, or simply wish me a good day.  She was the best!

I too have great memories of Audrey, one of which is what a gracious hostess she was when we would go as a family to visit at their place at Kerr Lake.  Her grandchildren, Laura and Angi, played many times with my children, Beth and Ted, when we would visit there.  In addition, she was a long time supporter and donor of our work at the Women's Center of Wake County that we deeply appreciated.  She may be physically gone now, but she lives on in so many of us with our memories.  God bless you all as you experience her loss.

Mrs. Audrey has passed on but the wonderful memories and stories continue. My Mom and Dad, Abbie and Maude Smith, were dear friends of Charlie and Audrey's and oh the great stories I have heard over the years. All our best to the entire family. Bobby and Patsy Smith

It was my pleasure to work with Audrey when she was Financial Aid Officer at Meredith College.  She was a kind, gracious and fine lady with a keen sense of humor and an interest in her students.  She always spoke fondly of her family.  It has been many years since those days and I have often thought of her with much regard.
