Annie Allen Spears

Annie Allen Spears, passed away on December 6, 2024 at the age of 95. She was living independently in Cary, NC at the time of her death at Stoneridge Gracious Retirement Living where she was supported and loved by staff and fellow residents. Her strong will to live was truly inspiring to so many. She faced many challenges but continued to demonstrate a strong fighting spirit.

Annie was born on August 23, 1929 in Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel Elizabeth Hamilton and John Emmett Allen; husband Carl Spears.

She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, and her sister Nancy Allen Howell of Topsail Island, NC.

Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling. She visited a number of different states, and various ports in other countries as she found taking cruises most enjoyable. Annie had many fond memories of spending time with her grandchildren and even more recently with her great- grandchildren. In her later years she enjoyed watching the Hayes Barton Baptist Church online service. She gave to a number of charities/causes to include the Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization.

A Funeral Service for Annie was held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 1:30pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, Raleigh. Entombment followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
