Ann LeStourgeon Harris, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 10, 1930 in Arkansas City, KS and grew up living in many different cities across the southeast. She was a graduate of Duke University in 1952 where she was active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Ann was active in The Raleigh Fine Arts Society, The Raleigh Junior League, and the St. Christopher’s travel group. She was treasurer of these and many other local organizations. Ann retired a number of years ago from her career as a tax- accountant.
Ann and Jack enjoyed extensive travel around the world. Their favorite countries to visit were Great Britain and Africa. When they weren’t traveling, they enjoyed spending time with their family and close friends.
She is survived by her college sweetheart and husband of 68 years, John B. Harris, Jr., better known to his family and friends as Jack, and by her daughters Susan H. West, Martha H. Owen (John Owen), and Ann Elizabeth Harris. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jonathan H. West (Samantha West) & great granddaughter Freya, Meredith W. Berg (Griff Berg) & great granddaughter Aurelia, Katherine O. Vanias (Stephen Vanias) and great grandson Owen & great granddaughter Grace, Thomas Owen (Anna Owen) and great granddaughters Caroline & Emily. Ann is also survived by her sister Kathryn LeStourgeon Smith (Whitman E. Smith Jr.) and her family and her sister-in-law Martha Harris Thompson and her family.
The family wishes to thank Home Instead Senior Care and Transitions Life Care for their thoughtful service and support of the Harris family.
A private family service will be held to celebrate her life.
