William Lucas

William “Bill” Lucas was born December 9, 1949 in Wrightsville, Georgia to the late Will and Bessie M. Lucas. He attended the Dock Kemp School Systems, then went on to join the United States Navy, relocating to Boston, Massachusetts after discharge.

He met the love of his life, Barbara Mitchell. They were married June 26, 1976 and eventually moved to Framingham, Massachusetts. William was employed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for many years before retiring in June of 2013.

At an early age, he was a member of Piney Grove AME Church in Donovan, Georgia. He later joined Bethel Highway Church Of Christ Of The Apostolic Faith, Inc. in Dorchester, Massachusetts.

William was the sixth of nine children. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Bertha Curry, Mary N. Lucas and Daisy Bolden, all of Dorchester, Massachusetts; one brother, Mr. Arcephus Lucas of Dorchester, Massachusetts, and sister-in-law Susan Mitchell of Scituate, Massachusetts.

He leaves to mourn, his loving wife, Barbara Lucas of Quincy, Massachusetts. One brother, Wilbert Bolden of Taunton, Massachusetts. Three sisters, Pearl Washington and Brenda Lucas of Boston, Massachusetts, and Lois Hodges of Stockbridge, Georgia. His father-in-law, Donald Mitchell Sr. of Scituate, Massachusetts; three sister-in-laws, Eleanore (Kenny) Johnson of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Judy Mitchell and Wendy Mitchell of Scituate, Massachusetts; 3 brother-in-laws, Donald (Angela) Mitchell Jr. of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Glenn (Theresa) Mitchell of Detroit, Michigan and Jeffrey (Veronica) Mitchell of Taunton, Massachusetts. A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A host of relatives and friends from Georgia, New Jersey, Michigan and Alabama.

A Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM followed by a Funeral Home Service on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock Street, Quincy, Massachusetts 02170.
