Norma Mae Rossetti of Quincy entered into eternal rest on March 14, 2024 at the age of 85 in The John Scott House, Braintree. Beloved daughter of Ugo and Mia ( Henry) Rossetti. Born, raised and educated in Quincy. She is survived by many cousins.
Norma’s professional education included the following, Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing- Diploma in 1959, nursing registration #74081, January 1960. Her Boston College School of Nursing, B. S. N., September 1974, M. S. N. In Community Health Nursing, June 1979, A. N. A. Certification- Community Health Nursing, January 1987.
Norma distinguished, and proud employment history is as follows: from September 1959 to June 1960, I.C.U. Quincy Hospital, June 1960 to June 1968Staff Nurse Oprerating Room, Clinical Instructor (Q.C.H O.R- February, 1962 –February 1964, Carney Hospital, Quincy Hospital, September 1968To June 1972 Instructor of Surgical Technician Program, Quincy Vocational Technical High School, Responsibilities included formation of curriculum, formal classroom teaching, clinical instruction, evaluation of student’s theoretical knowledge and practical application of same. Other duties included program assessment, interfacing with clinical agencies and participation in accrediting process, July 1972 – September 1974 full time student Boston College, part time staff nurse Emergency room Quincy City Hospital, responsible for direct patient care emergency room patients, September 1974 to August 1978, Assistant Director of Nursing/ In-service Director Norfolk County Hospital, Braintree. Responsible for Nursing Service In-service Education, Orientation of personal, Direction of Nursing Service Department in absence of Director of Nursing, Also Responsible for several individual departments such as Central Supply and Infection Control, October 1979 to May 1981, in-service Instructor Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Boston. Responsible for orientation of new personal, In service and on service for Nursing Staff, resource Nursing Units. May 1981 until her retirement in October 1996 Chief Hospital Supervisor- Ambulatory Care / Continuing Care Depts., For The Department of Public Health, Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Boston, Responsible for formulation, interpretation and enforcement of Ambulatory Care, Discharge Planning policies and procedures. Responsible for Nursing Staff Activities in both departments. Liaison with Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and Department of Correction to coordinate health care for their client populations.
Norma’s Memberships included the, American Nurse Association 1962 – present, Boston Regional Continuing Care Nurses 1981-1988, Association of Operating Room Nurse’s 1962-1972 and the Massachusetts Teachers Association 1968-1972. Memorial visiting hours will be held Sunday March 24 from 2-4 PM at the Deware Funeral Home, 576 Hancock ST., Quincy, relatives and friends are invited.
