Michael was born November 11, 1944 in Thomaston, Georgia to June Cochran and Miguel Casanova.
He served his country honorably from 1962-1966 by joining the U.S. Air Force right out of high school. After 35 years, he retired from the phone company in 2001. He loved all animals and enjoyed motorcycling, hunting, playing guitar, collecting antique telephones and rebuilding bicycles. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2224 in Puyallup, WA where he served as a former trustee and on the Honor Guard. He was recently awarded Man of the Year by the 355th Fighter Association. He was blessed with a great sense of humor. Michael's greatest love was his family whom he tried his best to never fail.
He was preceded in death by his mother, June Roenfeldt and his step-father, Melvin Roenfeldt.
He is survived by his wife of almost forty-two years, Kelly; his daughter Sherryl Determann and her partner Lisa Shaffer of Wichita, KS; his son Shawn Cochran and wife Stacy of Colorado Springs, CO; son Spencer Cochran and wife Tracie of Puyallup, WA; son Stephen Cochran and wife Marianne of Puyallup, WA; son Stuart Cochran of the home; son Scott Cochran and girlfriend Kelly Amschler of Puyallup, WA; and sister Connie Norwood of Norwood, MO.
He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Ken Applegate of Wichita,KS; Cody Schnell of Puyallup, WA; Megan Cochran of Colorado Springs, CO; Cruz, Jacob, Kyleigh, Nathen, and Charley-Jo Cochran; Haley Amschler all of Puyallup, WA; one great-granddaughter Annabelle Applegate of Wichita, KS; many, many friends and his beloved dog Murphy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed immediately by the funeral service at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Ave., Puyallup WA 98371. A reception will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Orting Eagles Hall, Orting WA.
