Christine Marie (Gilliam) Nimick began her eternal life on April 23, 2016. She was a hometown girl, born to Stanley and Eunice Gilliam in Sacramento County on June, 18, 1951. Not long after, she made her way to what would be her forever home in Puyallup, Washington.
Over 64 years her family and friends learned many valuable lessons from her; among them: always save the leftovers for the dog even if she's a little chubby, everyone has something to give even when they have nothing, stay connected with your past (PHS class of ’69!), there are never too many people at the table, and love life - even when it’s hard.
Chris loved to chat about Baker’s pond, organic farming, her time in Japan, and any tid-bit you might want to know about Puyallup. Celebrating her life must include more stories, which will surely include: her famous chocolate mousse pie, a bulky white truck, time spent feeding the homeless, an addiction to gems, and her love for music, cars and all things old and slightly broken.
Chris’s heart and soul are carried on by her three children Jared (Dani), Jayme, Justin (Laura); grandchildren, Kye (13), Chance (10), Laney (9), Evie (6), Jayden (11) and Jordan (8), and Parks (5). She also leaves behind an extensive group of family, and friends too lengthy to list, but not forgotten.
A viewing will be held at Powers Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with a celebration of life being held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Puyallup on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 4:00 PM. A party will will follow at 620 9th Ave. SW., Puyallup, WA 98391. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite dish or baked goodies. Chris wouldn't want it any other way than homemade and from the heart
While Chris loved plants, she preferred them planted in the Puyallup Valley soil. In lieu of flowers, please send gifts in memory to a place dear to her heart: Rocky Ridge Refuge at PO Box 105, Midway, AR. 72651
She was a mother to all, sharing words of wisdom, relationship advice, and political opinions with anyone who would listen. She guarded her recipes closely, but her heart and door were always open.
