James George Allen, age 77 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away July 15, 2021. He was born June 13, 1944 in Johnstown, PA to Edward Lewis Allen and Ethel Mae Miller Allen. James attended school in the Johnstown area. He then began working in construction and carpentry at the age of 16 upon moving to Charlotte County. Beginning in 1985 James worked for Charlotte County Public Schools in multiple departments, retiring in December of 2012 as a Records Specialist. He loved his family and being with them was his favorite activity. James was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roger Allen; and his brothers-in-law, Sonny Brooks and Terry Tramel. He is survived by his wife, Laura Tramel Allen; his children, Richard (Stacey Trowbridge) Allen, Scotty (Tamara) Allen, Eric Allen, and Shane (Carrie) Allen; grandchildren, Justin (Brittani) Allen, Tyler (Taylor Grindle) Allen, Brandon Allen, Dakota Allen, Cheyenne Allen, and Shalynne Allen; great grandchildren, Tyler Allen, Jr., and Jaimiegh Allen; and sister, Regina Brooks. A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 10-12pm, with a memorial service to begin at 12pm at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home; 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
