Jimmy was born in Minor Hill on November 27, 1933 to James Paul and Willa Boyd Black. He was self employed and a “jack of all trades” who had a passion for being outdoors, farming, playing Rook, and being around people. Jimmy dutifully served the United States in the Army, and Giles County as a Commissioner for 12 years. He was a member of the Civic Club and Minor Hill Church of Christ. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; and step mother Gertrude White Felker.
Visitation will be 11:30-2:30pm on Sunday February 23, 2025 at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral Services following at 2:30pm. Interment will be in Minor Hill Cemetery.
The family requests Contributions be sent to the Bank of Frankewing to help with family expenses.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Sandy Thigpen Black of Minor Hill; son Derek Black of Minor Hill; daughter Debbie Gatlin (Browney) of Prospect; step daughter Tammy Ball (Eddie) of Pulaski; step son Marty Robinson (Keala) of Lawrenceburg; step brother Richard Felker (Evelyn) of Pulaski; step sister Fay Carter (Larry) of Elkmont; grandchildren Ashley Blair, Paisley Hemmon, Hannah Jackson, Tyler Black, Lily Black, Colten Black, Lane Ball, David Lee Ball, and Carson Robinson; as well as 11 great grandchildren.
