He is survived by brother Ron (Terri) Vukelich and sisters Melissa L Duncan-Cruz and Sharleen (Roger) Lamaak.
Nieces and nephews; Roger ‘Buddy’ Lamaak, Jr., Jeremy Vukelich, Chanda (Nate) Ward, Jordan B. Cruz, Jacob B. Cruz and Kylie R. Cruz.
Great nieces and nephews; Hunter Lamaak, Trent and Lainee Vujich, Trace Ward, Dylan, Kiersten, Kaitlyn and Arianna Vukelich. As well as numerous special cousins and friends.
He was a graduate of Pueblo South High School, Class of 1985. He ran track, played football and wrestled. Rod was very active in all facets of his high school days and was a member in numerous school clubs. He attended the University of Southern Colorado before hiring into a management position with MCI. Forced to retire when he was 47 years of age with a health disability ending his career as a project manager with Alorica a subsidiary of Samsung.
Rod was diagnosed with renal failure. He lived with acute kidney disease short of ten years. He faced it head on and fought a valiant fight with tremendous dignity and enormous strength.
Sports of any kind were in Rod’s heart. His loyalty was to the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies, attending spring training and games.
At the age of 16 and throughout his teenage years he coached young boys baseball for the Boys and Girls Club summer programs.
Rod is loved and will be missed by all who had their lives touched by him. Humanity has suffered a great loss!
Memorial service, 10am Saturday July 16th in the Imperial Funeral Home Chapel, 5450 Highway 78 West. A reception will follow at Trinity Lutheran School, 701 W Evans, Pueblo CO 81004. Additional parking at the Abriendo entrance.
