Otto Daniel Steckman, 83, went to be with the Lord September 14, 2023. Born October 5,1939 in Aromas, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Evalyn Steckman (Wilker), brother Douglas Steckman, daughter-in-law Mitzi Steckman (Bollacker), and grandson JD Steckman. The family asks you to join them for a Celebration of Life and Steckman Specials (Lunch) on September 23, 2023, 11:00am, at Pueblo Firefighter's Historical Center, 116 N. Main St. Pueblo, CO 81003. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Pueblo Firefighter's Historical Center.
As a teenager, Otto(Dan) joined The Colorado Hayriders Square Dancers, where the group traveled and was showcased on TV. After seeing him on TV, he met his loving wife, Beatrice Joy Popp, in 1956 through a mutual friend. They were married on January 12, 1958, and had three children, Dannie, Rodney, and Vallee. He joined the Pueblo Fire Department on May 1, 1962, where he was passionate and proudly served. He retired as an Engineer on May 1,1990. His children were always extremely proud to say "My Daddy is a Fireman". He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. The mountains were his special place to be. Otto and Joy were members of Southern Colorado Polka Club, where they enjoyed polka dancing up to his time of passing. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, dad, and Papa to all his family, who also knew him as The Old Fart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joy, Pueblo West; sons Daniel (Denise) Steckman, Holyoke, CO, and Rodney (Brenda) Steckman, Beulah, CO; daughter Vallee (Joe) Vohs, Pueblo West; grandchildren Autumn (Anthony) Conde, Charlie (Erin) Steckman, Elyse (Brandon) Purdy, Mike (Melissa) Flint, Melvin (April) Flint, Ashley (Sheldon) Pearson, Daniel (Robyn) Osborn, Kyle (Greg) Hause, Annie (Gary) Gillis, Dawn (Evan) Crowley, Malloree (Ty) Barnes, Kyle (Ashlynne) Newton, Brandon (Talya) Newton, Cayleen Newton, Zac (Keiko) Vohs, Holly (Dan) Cowley, Taylor Vohs, Sean (Sykarri) Vohs, Caitlin (Chance) Cheek. He also had many great-grandchildren, Hallee (Donovan), Sierra, Shyanne, Emma, Josh, Marley, Deagan, Mike Jr., Sierra, Annabelle, Julien, Lilly, Rosie, Emma, Lena, Elizabeth, Preston, Kinder, Aspen, Stetson, Julian, Parker, Beckett, Bailey, Ashtyn, Aiden, Keegan, Dallee, Gus, Woodrow, Amaya, Alayna, Daisy, Zori, Mia, Alanis, Ryker, Zavier, and great-great grandsons Ryker and Tino. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunt.
