Joe Fred Lopez, 80, of Pueblo, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2022. He was born in Rocky Ford, CO on November 29, 1941. He was preceded in death by his son, Frederick J. Lopez Jr; parents, Richard and Laura Lopez; siblings, Sandra K. Lopez, Joe Henry Lopez, Leroy S. Lopez; and nephew Ricardo Lopez. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Edna M. Lopez; daughter, Robin (Mike) Young; brother, Richard (Sadie) Lopez; grandchildren, Lauren (Dave Catuccio) Lopez, Kyle Lopez, Aldo Egas, Kaylee (Joe Szynskie) Young; great grandchildren, Kiana Lopez, Remi Catuccio, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was drafted into the US Army Infantry in 1966. After completing the Officer Cadet School, he was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in 1967 and then was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in 1968. He was Honorably Discharged in 1969 and remained in the Army Reserves until 1973.
He retired from the Department of Corrections as a Parole Officer Supervisor in 1996. He then worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy at the Pueblo County Jail until his retirement in 2010.
He loved to fish and go gambling at Cripple Creek, but first and foremost, was his love and dedication to his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Rosary, 1:00 p.m., Mass Service, 1:30 p.m., June 20, 2022 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3130 Morris Ave., followed by Graveside Service at Imperial Funeral Home, 5450 Highway 78 West. Reception to follow at St. Pius X Catholic Church Hall.
