Eva Drake

Eva Frances Drake, ninety-six went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Hendersonville, NC A native and long time resident of Pueblo, CO., she was the daughter of the late William R. and Estelle Hunter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, Jess D. Drake, her daughter, Vivian E. Stringer, and son-in-law, David C. (Pete) Stringer and sister, Virginia Kuesza.

She is survived by her son, W.Dean Drake and his wife, Sharon, of Penrose, Co., daughter, Sharon K. Peebles and her husband, Frank, of Hendersonville, NC., sister-in-laws, G.Maxine Drake of Pueblo, CO., and Lillian Glaze of San Diego, CA.

Eva and Jess had fourteen grandchildren: Shannon (Brad) Smith of Denver, CO., Alan (Linda) Drake of Penrose, CO., Tad Drake of Denver, CO., Jackie Laughlin, of Canon City, CO., Alan (Alexis) Laughlin of Denver, CO., Pam (Gary) Cummings of Denver, CO., David Stringer of Madison Heights, MI., Terry Peebles of Seguin, TX., Tammy Peebles of Ocala, FL., Cory Fletcher of Mills River, NC., Randy Peebles of Melbourne, FL., Rory (Kathy) Peebles of Melbourne, FL., Robyn (Bruce) Bragg of Melbourne, FL., Trent (Karen) Peebles of New Salem, PA., twenty-five great, grandchildren, nineteen great, great, grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and neighbors.

Eva spent the majority of her life loving, cooking, and caring for her family; reading her Bible and praying for each one by name every day. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her prayer is to meet all her beloved family in Heaven. She was a long time member of Lake Ave. Baptist Church, Pueblo, CO., for sixty-seven years and Mud Creek Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC for the last seven years. She instructed “Cake and Food Decorating” at Pueblo College for eighteen years.

Grandsons will serve as pall bearers.

Services will be held at Adrian Comer Funeral Home, July 29, 2016 at 10:00 am

2710 North Elizabeth, Pueblo, CO

Things I’ve learned from my Mama

1) Love: Mama loved unconditionally. I don’t think I ever talked to her when she didn’t say “I love you”. Although Dementia had taken most of her memory, she would still say “I love you”.

2) Prayer: I learned to pray by watching my parents. Every night at bedtime my Mama would come to our bedrooms and sit on the edge of our beds and we all would say “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. Then I would begin my endless “GOD bless Mama, Daddy, Warren, Vivian, and Grandparents, all of them by name and then my dog Pola and any others we had around, and then my neighbors, and friends”. Mama would always then, tuck us in.
