Darrel Jan Brown entered this world on November 24, 1941 and came into the full presence of his Savior Jesus Christ on May 30, 2024. Those 82 years were lived in Pueblo (graduating from Central High School in 1959, and from Pueblo Junior College and CSU in Fort Collins in 1963), and Boulder. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vaill and Mildred (Mickey) Brown, and survived by his wife of 53 years Rev. Gwenda Kay Brown.
Darrel used his accounting skills in his last job a warehouse director in Boulder but added truck driving with Boulder City Storage and Transfer, transporting the first IBM machines around Colorado. Darrel loved fishing at Quartz Creek in Parlin, Colorado as well as many other lakes, streams and reservoirs in Colorado. Second only to his love for his Lord and his wife, Darrel loved his restored 1956 F-100 Ford pick-up, Brandywine Baby, winning numerous show trophies from 1990 through 2015 and drove in parades with his nieces and nephews and once even Ronald McDonald.
Darrel served as Deacon in First Presbyterian Church of Boulder and ‘assistant pastor’ at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church in Penrose Colorado. Loving known as Uncle Darrel to 17 nieces and nephews and Mr. D to many others. He leaves a legacy of gentleness, generosity, and grace through his years. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, at 11:00 at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 5th Avenue and Grant Street.
