Bernice A. Cruz

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bernice Cruz, 83. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 3rd, 2023. She was the loving and dedicated wife of Jose A. Cruz-Hernandez, whom she had been married to for 66 years.

Bernice was born in Fort Garland, Colorado. She and her husband resided in various locations as he served in the Army for 20 years. Bernice enjoyed spending time with her family. She was well known for her excellent cooking and for hosting family gatherings. She enjoyed her trips to Cripple Creek, gardening and crafting. She always enjoyed cheering on her grandson, Jordan at his various sporting events and was known as “Nana” even by his teammates. She and her sisters were known as “The Golden Girls.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Roseanne Roybal; brothers, Clarence and Eloy Roybal; and her daughter, Rosa Leon. She is survived by her children, Luis Cruz, Anna (Michael) Noland, and Tony Cruz; Grandchildren, Yolanda Leon, Rachel Leon, Jacob (Paula) Cruz, Fabian (Emily) Cruz, Jenae (Ryan) Armijo and Jordan Cruz, Jayde Noland, Brooklynn Noland; Great-Grandchildren, Brianna Gomes, Jazmine Gomes, Isaiah Gomes,Mario Delgado, Brian Hudson, Cisco Delgado, Jaila Armijo, Frankie Jo Armijo, Gia Cruz, Natalia Cruz, Zakai Cruz, Arianna Cruz and Damian Cruz; Sisters, Berlinda (Art) Gonzalez and Caroline(Dionisio) Aguilar. She was especially close to her niece, Frances Korte who was considered to be like a daughter to her. She also leaves behind former daughter-in-laws, Gerri and Paulette Cruz and numerous nieces and nephews.

All services will be held on Thursday May 11, 2023 at Imperial Funeral Home, Located in Pueblo. Viewing will be held from 10am-11am, followed by a Rosary at 11am. Service will begin at 11:30am with interment to follow. The family welcomes you to join them for a reception at the hall located at Imperial Funeral home.
