Alexander Lamas, age 92, of Pueblo, Colorado passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022. Alexander was born on February 7, 1930 in Tollerburg, Colorado. He was the third child out of nine children. He attended grammar school and high school in Avondale where he met future wife Ruth Autobee.
In 1949, at the age of nineteen, he joined the Army. He ranked as Corporal in the 15th Field Artillery 2nd Division from 1949-1952 during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with five campaign stars, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, and Letter of Appreciation from the Republic of Korea. After serving in the Army, Alexander returned to Avondale, and shortly thereafter, moved to California to work for the Western Electric Company.
He married Ruth Autobee on November 17, 1956 in Avondale, but they built a life in California until 1982 when he retired from Western Electric. Upon retirement, they moved back to Avondale, Colorado. In his spare time, he was a member of the Avondale Water Board, participated in the Avondale Veteran’s day parade, enjoyed traveling, gambling, and working on his land Alexander was a jack of all trades. Alexander is now reunited with his loving wife, parents and siblings in Heaven.
Alexander Lamas is survived by his children, Judith (Jerry) Twomey, Richard (Catherine) Lamas, Yolanda (Dennis) Hancock, Alex Leonard (Maria) Lamas, and James (Roberta) Lamas; grandchildren; Celeste Twomey, Stephen Lamas, Rebecca Lamas, Carissa Lamas, Candace (David) Boubion, Michael (Tiffani) Hancock, Matthew (Sydney) Lamas, Krystyna (Kris) Taft, Zachary Lamas, Mackenzie Lamas and Jacqulin Lamas, 12 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; Sister Maria Brunner, Brothers Louis (Jean) Lamas and David (Cathy) Lamas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Jesusita Lamas. Predeceased are his brother Manuel (Theresa) Lamas, sisters Elia (Harvey) Miles, Aurora Roxson, and grandchildren Anthony Lamas and Willie Flores.

A rosary/viewing for Alexander will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022. Rosary at 9:00 AM and the funeral mass will occur at 10:00 AM at Avondale Sacred Heart Church, 214 US-50, Avondale, CO 81022. Interment will be held at Imperial Memorial Gardens, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado 81005. Military honors by the The United States Army.
The family requests any donations in Alexander’s honor be made to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
