He was the beloved husband for 62 years to the late Ruth (Suter) Vieira and son of the late Nancy (Ferrucci) Vieira.
Richard worked as a machinist for Bird & Son for 30 years and was a proud member of the AFL-CIO Paperworkers’ Union where he served as president and treasurer until his retirement.
He served in the United States Navy and the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded 3 bronze stars for his service.
He was a president and an active member of the VFW Post 1402.
He loved his dogs, his whiskey, and his family. He lived his life his way with no regrets.
He was the father of 3 sons, Roy Vieira, Keith Vieira, and the late Richard Vieira Jr. and 1 daughter, Linda Vieira; brother of 8; grandfather of 7; and great-grandfather of 4.
His visitation will be held Friday, June 2, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St, Providence. Burial will be private.
