Born in Providence on October 29, 1942, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Mangiarelli) DeLuca. He was the beloved husband to Amelia Marie (Caligiuri) DeLuca for 56 years. He is also survived by his children, Richard W. DeLuca and wife Jaclyn, and David M. DeLuca; three grandchildren, Gwenyth, Evangeline, and Aurelia DeLuca; niece Patricia (Lamy) Smolley and husband Greg, nephew Richard Lamy and wife Aimee, and niece Marianne (Lamy) Zinzarella and husband John; he also leaves behind six great-nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Barbara (DeLuca) Lamy and William DeLuca.
A lifelong Providence resident, he attended St. Edward’s School and later graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He then attended New England Institute of Anatomy where he studied to be a licensed funeral director. He eventually moved on to his passion for automobiles and began a successful career in automobile repair and restoration with a specialization in large-scale diesel engines and equipment.
Throughout his life, he was rooted in his Catholic faith as a loyal parishioner at St. Ann’s, St. Pius, and St. Augustine’s, and enjoyed giving his time to help those in need. He enjoyed all sports and especially loved playing golf, traveling and exploring New England, and spending time with his friends and neighbors. His greatest joy in life was his family and the time he was able to spend as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
The family would like to thank all of the medical staff at HopeHealth Hospice for the wonderful care he received at home during his illness.
