EXETER: WALSH, JOAN E. (LYONS), 74, died on Thursday at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her husband of53 years, Donald F. Walsh, her daughters, Ellen E. Breagy, Judith A. Bonin, and her son Timothy P. Walsh and his wife Erin. Joan was predeceased by her son, David F. Walsh. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Siobhan and Conor Breagy, Derek Bonin and Katherine, David, Liam, and Elizabeth Walsh.She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Grace (Dussault) Lyons and the sister of the late Ellen Duffy.She was born and raised in Providence where she lived until moving to Exeter in 1995 having retired from the City of Providence where she was a crossing guard for twenty years and a clerk in the Detective Division of the Providence Police Department. She was a summer resident of Roy Carpenters Beach since her childhood.Joan was also employed for years at Schneider Arena, Providence College where she was a loyal fan of both Providence College Hockey and Providence Youth Hockey.For thirty-six years, she was a member of Local 1033, Providence Laborers Union.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Pius V. Church, Eaton St., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held on Monday 4-7 pm.
