Helen Mary Curran

Helen Mary Curran, 90,  peacefully passed from this life in her sleep of natural causes on Saturday January 23, 2021 at Brentwood Nursing Center in Warwick. She was the wife of the late Raymond Joseph Curran, Sr.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Catherine ( Carroll ) Kelly.

Helen was a lifelong resident of the Mt. Pleasant section of Providence spending most of her life on Wisdom Avenue where she and Raymond raised their family.

Helen worked for the Rhode Island Lottery for over 30 years retiring in 2008. If you were lucky enough to win money in the RI lottery, meeting Helen would be the highlight of your day. She commissioned millions of dollars in winnings to lucky participants over her 30 year career.

Helen had an affection for life and although she had out lived her beloved husband Raymond by over 45 years, her love of family and friends endured. Never one to be idle, Helen enjoyed her Wednesday weekly outings for many years with the “Golden Girls“ to enjoy dinner and her vodka tonic at a new restaurant each week.

Helen leaves her children, Lynn M. Halmi and her husband Dezi of Hope, Jean A. Coelho and her husband John of North Providence, Paul B. Curran and his wife Therese of North Scituate, Robert M. Curran and his wife Lynda of North Kingstown, Daniel P Curran of Cranston, Kevin T. Curran and his wife Tonya of Providence, her grandchildren, Nicole Halmi and her husband Benjamin Cardoza, Jonathan Halmi, Noah and Kyle Curran, Kailee, DJ and Christian Patrie.

Helen was the mother of the late Raymond J. Curran, Jr. and the sister of the late Thomas P. Kelly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 29, 2021 at 10:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue, Providence. Because of the current Covid restrictions, burial is private. Walk through Calling hours are 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday in Blessed Sacrament Church.
