Harold was born in Cambridge, MA and was the son of the late John and Anne (Bremner) Bateman. He grew up in Hudson and lived Marlborough for many years before moving to Titusville, Florida upon his retirement in 1987.
He worked as a machinist at Lapointe Machine Tool Company in Hudson and at Raytheon Company in Andover.
Harold served in the Navy during WWII. His favorite pastimes were camping with his kids and grandkids and walking the beach in Florida.
Harold is survived by his former wife, Margaret A. (Misener) Bateman of Natick; his daughter, Anne Bateman and her husband Jerry Schlater of Brewster, Ma; his son David Bateman and his husband Gene Gant of Marblehead; his daughter Mary Ballard and her longtime companion Kathleen Barden; and his daughter Jeanne D’Angelo of Salisbury, NC; his grandchildren Denise, Doreen, Konrad, Kristen, Caryn, Justin, Amanda, and Chelsea and 15 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his grandsons, Joseph and Jonathan Schartner and great grandson Jeremiah Gundry.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on September 16, 2023 at 12:00 noon at the Community House, 28 Main Street in Southborough MA. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by September 1, 2023 at (781-)-639-9599
