Evelyn Norma Olean

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Filomena (Parrillo) DeCarlo. She was the loving mother of Normand F. Olean Jr. and his wife Olivia, Stephen A. Olean and his wife Susan and Sandra M. Olean and her fiance Stephen Siciliano. Evelyn was the cherished grandmother of Lauren, Matthew, Chloe, and Christopher and adored sister of Rocco DeCarlo and the late John and Michael DeCarlo. Evelyn leaves behind her dearly loved sister in laws; Bridget, Diana, Rita, Barbara, Marie and Anne Louise as well as many cherished nephews and nieces.

Along with her devoted late husband, Normand F. Olean, Evelyn’s focus was always her family. Her loved ones were the center of her world. She was so welcoming and kind to friends and neighbors who she treated like family. Evelyn worked for the Providence School Department for over 25 years. She supported countless children and educators during her wonderful years there.

Upon retirement, Evelyn devoted her life to her cherished grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker, continuing her childhood tradition of Sunday dinners for her own family. Dinner at Grammys house was everybody's favorite time of the week. She enjoyed hosting every holiday, and especially made Christmas magical for her whole family.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching the birds and deer share her backyard. Evelyn loved broadway shows, traveling, dining out with the Red Hat Society, cozying up to watch hallmark movies, and lived a faithful life within the St. Jude’s catholic community. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Her visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 8:00-9:15 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 301 Front St, Lincoln. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter.
