Celina Mercedes Rafaela Baez Pena

Celina Mercedes Rafaela Baez Pena, 77, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the lifelong partner of Wilfredo Vargas. Born in Baitoa, Santiago, Dominican Republic, she was a daughter of the late Neftali A. and Ana L. (Baez) Pena.She worked as a factory worker in the jewelry manufacturing industry for many years. Celina liked to play bingo, cards, dominoes, and sudoku. She also loved scary movies and will be most of all remembered for her unique sense of humor.Celina leaves her children, Francesca Pena, of Queens, NY, Victoria Pena, Christine Vargas, and Wilfredo Vargas, all of Providence; and the late Jose Pena; siblings, Ramona Pena, Carmen De Leon, Jose Pena, Zoila Pena, and Iris Pena; 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind Esmarlyn Dominguez. She came in as her care taker but became her true friend and earned her love as a daughter.Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 8:30 am – 10:00 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue, Providence.
