Carole (Hanson) McKiernan, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 22, 2024, in the West Shore Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel McKiernan, and preceded in death by her parents George and Hazel (Smith) Hanson, her brother John Hanson and daughter-in-law Christina McKiernan. She is survived by her sons, Daniel P. McKiernan of Providence, Sean McKiernan and his wife Michelina McKiernan of Weston CT, and Brendan McKiernan and his wife Elizabeth McKiernan of Glastonbury CT; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Bridget, Patrick, Daniel, Mary, Caitlyn, Kathryn and Deirdre McKiernan; and one great-grandchild, Thomas McKiernan Jr.
Mrs. McKiernan worked as a registered nurse in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, and Kent County hospitals. When living in Warwick, Mrs. McKiernan was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with her family at Warwick Country Club. After moving to Narragansett, she enjoyed her time by the water, including daily beach walks as well as indulging her green thumb and acting as ringleader of fun with her eight grandchildren.
Carole's funeral will begin on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 27 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.
