Robert was born on January 30, 1927 in Warrensburg, New York. He attended Warrensburg High School before leaving early and joining the Navy in 1944. He later obtained his GED. He served our country in Japan, and then returned to the states on the USS WASP. He also served in the Mediterranean and Korea. He was then discharged in 1955.
Robert moved to Prineville in 1990. He worked in Warm Springs operating an auto shop from 1981-1989. He then worked for Ken Falgren and finally at Baxter Auto Parts.
Robert loved the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, square dancing, western swing, and ballroom dancing. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Moose, Elks, and the Eagles where he was the chaplain for many years.
He is survived by his son, Kevin, daughter-in-law Saima Goodrich (Gillette), both of Portland, Oregon, and nephew Cliff “Sarge” Goodrich of Florida; He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Pansy Goodrich of Warrensburg NY, and his wife, Shirley.
A memorial service will be held on March 23, 2014 at 12PM at the Eagles Lodge in Prineville. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on March 31, 2014 at 12:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pioneer Hospice (St. Charles) of Prineville. Arrangements are under the direction of Prineville Funeral Home, Prineville, Oregon.
