Ray Starling, 68, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
Born November 26, 1950 in Bluefield, WV; he was the son of the late Emmett “Bo” and Mary Sue “Granny” Starling formerly of Bluefield, WV.
Ray was a member of the Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church on John Nash Blvd his entire life; Ray loved children and teaching them The Lord’s Prayer and Ten-Commandments. He retired from GTE phone company; and was the owner of Landlock Farms, he had a wealth of knowledge about farming, he loved working with cattle, and had shown horses in the past. He loved working and helping others in any way that he could. He was a very kind, nurturing, and dependable person, he tried taking care of everyone. Ray was a “true friend”; he never met a stranger, he was himself no matter where he was or who he was with; everyone that knew him loved him.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, who loved him like a son, Velma Jane Worrell and Carlos ElmoreWorrell formerly of Bluefield, VA.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 48 years, Celesta Starling of Bluefield, WV; a son, Aaron Starling and wife, Traci of Rocky Gap, VA; two grandchildren, Morgan and Ivie Starling of Rocky Gap, VA; a sister, Susan Rannells and husband, Ed of Bluefield, WV; a brother, Kenneth Starling and wife, Lisa of Tazewell, VA; brother and sister in law, Ardena Neal and husband, Gary of Bluefield, VA; niece, Jessica Pyles and husband, Danny of Concord, NC; great-nephew and niece, Isaac and Alexis Pyles of Concord, NC; extended family and a host of friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Ray Starling will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Roselawn Funeral Home, Princeton with Pastor Randy Sargent officiating. Following the services Ray will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, May 13, 2019 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the funeral home.
