Russell William Bradley Kerr, age 32, passed away July 21, 2024. Born in Victoria, BC, Russell moved at a young age with his family to Smithers, where he grew up and lived until moving back to Vancouver Island as a young adult. Although he spent many years on the island, he always considered Smithers to be his hometown.
Spending most of his career in aviation, Russell was a hard worker who always gave his all. He loved learning new things and continued to expand his education by training in graphic arts and community support work, and most recently gained work experience in natural resources as a mine lab technician and drill pad builder. He was artistic and creative and loved listening to and playing music, especially guitar.
If you’ve ever experienced Russell’s stellar bad puns or “dad” humor, received a text photo of Mr. Ed or an alien meme, participated in “Maiden Monday” or been told some unsolicited Star Wars or metal music trivia, then you also know that our best Russell had the biggest of hearts and was a devoted son and a loyal friend who would do anything for those he loved.
Russell will be laid to rest at home on Vancouver Island with his father and grandmother, two people who inspired him and loved him dearly and with whom he shared special bonds.
