Michael was born in Hamilton Ontario. He got his forest tech degree and moved to BC as there was not much logging going on in Ontario at that time. He worked on the west coast in the Nisga territory 1975 to 1977. In 1977 he moved to Prince George. And he gave up being a forest tech and in 1980 he moved into the sawmill. He met the love of his life in 1983, they were married until he wasn’t able to go on 41 years later. After 3 years of schooling, he achieved his Welding Certified A ticket. He did that position in 4 different mills, one mill shutdown, one mill burned down and his final position was at a pulp mill until he retired in 2021. Michael worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. I am very sad and miss him every second of the day. He loved fishing, animals both tame and wild. Although he complained about my horses, he loved them dearly, except when one of them, Moses, ate the seat off his motorcycle. We both laughed so hard. One year It had snowed a lot and Michael decided to shovel the roof. He was wearing black snow pants. I was sitting at the kitchen table enjoying my coffee, the house we built had a wrap around porch. All of a sudden, I saw 2 black legs zooming off the roof right in front of kitchen window. I burst out laughing and then I went to check on him. He was fine but cursing the pants, which he never wore again when shovelling the roof.
He was a very funny person, with a quick wit that not many could keep up to but kept me laughing. Our marriage was full of laughs which never stopped.
