It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving Mom, Grandmother, Aunt and friend. Linda now joins her father Glen Doran; mother Evelyn Doran; very close friend Terry McMillan and others.
She is survived by her Son, Michael (Jennifer); Grandsons Levi Doran and Taylor Doran; Brothers and Sisters David, Dorothy, Donna, Bob, Lois, Bill; nieces and nephews including Dawn, Marisa (John), Chase and William (Susan) who were very close to her through most of her life.
Linda started off working quite young helping the family run a restaurant, she was then a watch repair person and then eventually she became a registered nurse. After working throughout the hospital she settled into a position on the Psychiatric ward. After a few years she moved from the hospital and started the Canadian Mental Health Association in Prince George and was Executive Director for over 30 years. She was very dedicated to her career and to helping others with mental health and addictions.
Linda loved to go camping, paint (oil paintings), play cards and spend time with other friends and loved ones. She always enjoyed a good laugh and great visits with family and friends.
She ran into some health issues a number of years ago. This lady was a fighter and continued to bounce back when we often thought she may not. She moved from her home to the Prince George Chateau where she had more care and support. This was a place she really flourished in, giving painting lessons and enjoying a great social life. Health issues continued and eventually she was moved from the Chateau to Simon Fraser Lodge. We would like to thank the team at the Chateau and at Simon Fraser Lodge for their care and support throughout her final years.
We would also really like to extend a huge thank you to the many nurses at the University Hospital of Northern BC for their care in her last few days.
Linda will be missed greatly by many but we are all comforted in knowing that she is now in a peaceful place.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Pineview Hall on Monday, May 8th at 3pm. Anyone who knew Linda and wishes to attend is welcome.
In lieu of flowers or anything else, we ask that you only bring with you a story of Linda to share with others.
