It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gysbertus (Bert) Kerkhof on February 28th at the age of 85. Bert passed at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. surrounded by his family.
Bert was born in The Hague, Netherlands in 1938 and immigrated to Canada with his wife and 2 children in 1966 after being offered a job in Canada. He moved directly to Prince George and loved the outdoor activities the area offered enjoying hunting, camping and fishing.
Bert was a carpenter by trade and was the business agent for the carpenters union in Prince George from 1981 until 1998 when he retired and was the vice president of the BC council of carpenters from 1986 until 1998.
Bert is survived by his wife of 63 year Alyda, sons Tom and Joe (Rhonda), sisters Tillie (Wout), Tinie (Henk), Rina, and Gemma (Simon) and grandchildren Clinton, Parker (Samantha) and Rylan.
