Mary Elizabeth Lee Wingard

Mary Elizabeth Lee Wingard was taken up to heaven by her Heavenly Father on October 27, 2024. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Prattville, Alabama, where she had lived for 57 years.

Mrs. Wingard was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Samuel Wingard, her parents, Isaac Luke Lee and Della Mae (Glover) Lee Bates; son, John Wayne Wingard and his wife Judy Foster Wingard; daughter, Patricia (Pat) Wingard Chambliss and husband Clyde Lee Chambliss Sr.; son, Timothy Irvin Wingard and son in law Leonard Allen Monfee; sisters, Bessie Pope, Louise Williamson and Virginia Wilkes. She is survived by her children, Linda Wingard Parrish (Roy), Carol Wingard Monfee and Brenda Wingard Millwee, all of Prattville, Alabama.

Mrs. Wingard was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on October 27, 1926, and lived in Bessemer, Alabama for many years. She left home at the age of 14 and moved to Mobile, Alabama to live with her sister. While in Mobile, she worked for a short time at the Brookly AFB and there she met John S. Wingard and married him on September 18, 1943. From then on, she was a wife, homemaker and mother to her six children. When her children were all grown, she worked for a few years at Kiddie College in Prattville.

She was a wonderful mother to her children and a wonderful Granny to her 17 grandchildren, 34 great grand grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She loved her family dearly and was loved by all who knew her. We will all cherish her memory forever in our hearts.

A visitation for Mary will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville, 347 East Main Street, Prattville, AL 36067. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Ridout's-Brown-Service Prattville Chapel, 347 E Main St, Prattville, Alabama 36067. Her grandson, Jonathan Parrish was officiate the service. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery where she will be laid to rest between her husband and her son. Serving has pallbearers will be Wayne Wingard, Clyde Chambliss Jr., Bruce LaFogg, Roy Parrish Jr, Jeffrey Parrish and Jonathan Parrish.
