Carolyn Rebecca Gilliam

Carolyn Rebecca Gilliam, most lovingly known as “Becky” and “Nanny,” was surrounded by her family as she peacefully went to Heaven on December 8, 2024, just eight short weeks after the passing of her beloved husband of 62 years, Sonny.

Born on August 20, 1944, to John B. & Pearl Hogan, Becky lived a life filled with love, joy, and unwavering faith. Whether singing, dancing, or simply being present, she created moments of joy and light wherever she went. As a devoted wife, she faithfully served her husband, Sonny, until his passing in October 2024.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nanny leaves behind her three cherished children, Don (Kelli), Lynn (Darrin), and Randall, and a family she adored. She was a proud grandmother to Hannah (Malon), Harrison, Haley (Noah), Devin, and Holly (Chase), and great-grandmother to James, Elliott Carolynn, and Callum. She is survived by her brothers, Al Hogan, Larry (Sharon) Hogan, Johnny (Danielle) Hogan, and brother-in-law Larry Gilliam. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her heart into each one of them.

Her life was guided by her steadfast faith, often sharing her longing for heaven and living with the eternal perspective that "this world is not my home, I’m just passing through." She embodied the virtues of Proverbs 31, and those who knew her truly called her blessed.

Becky leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved Sonny (Papa), singing and dancing in the presence of her Savior. Nanny will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and unmatched gratitude.

A memorial service for Carolyn will be held Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Hunter Hills Church, 330 Old Farm Lane North, Prattville, Alabama 36066.
