Harris, Sara Alecia McManus Josey, a native of Montgomery, AL and long-time resident of Prattville, AL died Friday, January 1, 2021. Services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 12:00 p .m. from the Ridout’s Prattville Chapel with the visitation 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Reverend Dr. Tony McCullough and Reverend Chris McCain officiating. Burial will follow at Old Oakwood cemetery in Montgomery, AL.
Alecia was born March 31, 1932 to George and Clara McManus. She graduated from Saint Mary’s of Loretto Academy and attended Huntingdon College. She did accounting work in Montgomery for many years. Alecia was a Life member of Spinners, a member of the Estudi Club, and a faithful volunteer at Prattville Baptist Hospital. She should be remembered as a loving mother to all her children, a Godsend to her husband Fred and a caring friend to many. Her spiritual gift was an innate desire to care for others, and she used that gift often. Alecia is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Fredric J. Harris, her parents, her only sister Jean Louise McManus, grandson Kyle Colwell, and son-in-law Kenneth Sheffield. She is survived by her eight children, James Josey, Jr., Gail Davis (Charles), Clair Sheffield, Marcelle Hicks (Vint), Allison Colwell (Charles), Pace Josey (Suzelle), Christopher Josey (Michele), and Laura Harris. Her extended family includes 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Children’s of Alabama Hospital; 1600 7th Ave S; Birmingham, AL 35233 or to the First United Methodist Church; 100 E 4th St; Prattville, AL 36067. Visitation will be at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
