Vera B. Wells

Mrs. Vera B. Wells, age 91 of Massena, NY and formerly of Madrid, NY passed away on April 18th at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, NY. Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Home. Friends may call on Monday, April 23rd at the Garner Funeral Home from 2-4pm. Rev. Stephen Rocker will have a prayer service at 4. Vera will be buried in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam. Vera is survived by sons Dale Lawrence; Thomas (Colleen) Lawrence; daughters Bonnie Loonan and Ruth (Ernest) Perry; a son in law W. Hayes Ingram. She is predeceased by her sons Gary and James Lawrence, a daughter Diane Ingram, daughter in law Shirley Lawrence; husbands James Lawrence, Frank Johnson, Dave Roberts and Edwin Wells; brothers Alvin, Harry, William, Lewis and Clark Cole and sisters Ruth LaValley, Alta Williams and Margaret Cole

Vera B. Wells was born on April 19, 1926 in Tupper Lake, NY to Heimer and Julia Cole. She attended Potsdam schools. She was a care taker for the county taking in people who needed a place to live. She worked as a matron for the St. Lawrence County Jail. She also cleaned and cooked for Thetta Gamma in Canton for years.
