Terry passed away on February 4th from a heart attack he suffered two weeks earlier. He was taken from us way too soon. We wanted to enjoy more of life with him, have more family gatherings together, have more laughs and hugs together. God had other plans for Terry. He is now with his heavenly family and friends. It is devastating to lose a loved one, especially a father.
Terry was born in Ekalaka, MT in 1953 to James and Phyllis Dokken. At the time, he had two older sisters, Diane and Patsy. The family moved to NE for about a year until they decided to move to CA. They lived with relatives, Francis and Loren French, until their family home in San Jose was built in 1954. Terry's third sibling, Casey, was born in 1957. The two brothers remained close till the very end.
Many friendships were made during those years living on Gridley Street, the Azevedos, the Liras, the Knights and others. Two of his best friends from his teenage years were Keith Turner and Bob Thompson. If you were a friend of Terry's, you were, probably, a life-long friend. He was loyal and valued his friendships. Terry remained close to Keith's mother, Audrey, throughout the years, especially, after the passing of his mother (1993).
Terry graduated from Piedmont Hills High School in 1971.
Terry met Kellie Storms in OR in 1980 while vacationing. They were married in June of that year. They bought their first home in San Jose in 1982 where they had and raised two wonderful sons, Jesse, now 40 and Nick, now 35. Terry worked for Federal Pacific Electric Co. for approximately 12 years until 1990 when his family decided to move to Gresham, OR. Kellie's mother, Julie and her brother, John lived there.
Terry worked for Toyota in Portland from Dec., 1990 until his retirement in Oct., 2018, almost 27 years. He belonged to the Teamsters Union Local #305.
Terry was a good, honest, hardworking man who loved his sons more than anything or anyone in the world. When he retired, he enjoyed being with his sons and friends and working on his home making improvements and repairs. Terry also enjoyed working with wood. He built a workbench with his son, Nick, that gave him much enjoyment.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Phyllis Dokken and his good friends, Keith Turner and brother-in-law, Mike Mason.
Terry leaves behind his two sons, Jesse Dokken and Nick Dokken, his three siblings, Casey Dokken (Beverley), Patsy Kinnick (Fred), and Diane Baker (Jack), two aunts, Doris Geving (Connie) and Diane Geving (Montie), three nieces, Tammy Hammond (Scott), Cheryl Felice, and Tracy Desmond (Cody), his three nephews, Scott Dokken, Kyle Dokken and Mike Mason (Laura), his cousin, John Geving (Billie), cousin, Barbie Hofeldt and many other cousins and many friends.
May he rest in peace, till we meet again. We all love you so much.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Dokken family.
