Suzanne Peterson

Suzanne Peterson passed on July 10, 2022, after peacefully resigning from her fight with COPD and congestive heart failure. Sue was born to Hubert and Bula Durham February 10, 1943, in the logging-company town of Potlatch, Idaho. She graduated from the University of Idaho in 1965 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and minors in Drama and English. The Boise School District Superintendent was a family friend, and hired her to teach second grade at Koelsch. It was in Boise that she met the dashing Roy Peterson, and they married February 19, 1966.

In 1969, Roy and Sue moved to Portland, where she taught with Lynch School District from 1969-1974 and Centennial School District from 1974-1999, teaching grades 2, 3, 7 & 8.

Her love of education, art and children followed her throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, traveling, golfing and painting. Always the life of the party, Sue gave generously to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her baby brother, parents, mother-in-law and husband. She is survived by her god-daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, Sue requested donations be made to

Cancer Research Institute or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
