Suzanne was born November 23, 1956 in San Francisco, California, along with her twin sister, Norma. Suzanne graduated from Parkrose High School in 1975. She married John O’Donnell in 1977, and had two daughters, Theresa and Sarah. She worked in the insurance field, and after her 25th wedding anniversary, she attended Mt. Hood Community College and received her associates degree in event coordinating. She then began working as an office manager at Hoffman Construction and enjoyed her many coworkers.
Traveling was one of Suzanne’s favorite things, she visited Japan, Italy, Prague, Germany and Mexico. On a recent road trip with her husband, sister, Norma, and brother-in-law, Dan, she visited the Grand Canyon for the first time and stopped in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and California.
Suzanne was a very accomplished runner, including finishing the New York Marathon, The Boston Marathon and the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon. She was captain of her Portland to Coast team for four years and created many wonderful memories. She enjoyed swimming and swam across the Columbia River twice. Hiking with friends and family was also enjoyed by Suzanne. She summited South Sister twice and attempted to hike Mt. St. Helens, but was hindered by hailing weather. One of her favorite hikes was Angel’s Rest on The Columbia Gorge. She loved to golf with her husband always enjoyed anytime she was outdoors.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of 38 years, John, daughters, Theresa and Sarah, sisters, Norma and Emily, brother Charles, mother, Emilia, father, Ed and granddaughter, Paige, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 1515 NE 106th Avenue, Portland, OR 97220.
