She was born on November 2, 1941 in Portland, Oregon to Jerry and Doris Van Avery. She had 3 brothers and 1 sister. She went to Immaculata high school where she met two very important people in her life. Her best friend Kelly, who she had a lifelong friendship with, and her future husband Charles Barnes Tiller III. She went on to have a long standing career at Kaiser Permanente. A job she loved and was proud of.
Her greatest happiness was found in her family. She married Charles in 1959. They later divorced, but remained good friends and lovingly raised their four children together until he passed. Sandy was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. Her joy for life was felt by anyone that knew her. She was always surrounded by a lot of love and freely gave it.
She is survived by her four children; Kelly, Joyce, Chuck (Bonnie), and Tammie (Mark). Seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was the pillar of our family and will live on in all of our hearts.
Her celebration of life is being held on April 15 at 1:30pm, at Zellers Chapel of the Roses. 2107 NE Broadway ST, Portland, OR 97232. Reception to follow at Rossi Farms in the Barn 3839 NE 122nd Ave. Portland, OR 97230. The farm is close by Sandy and Joyce's home. We are asking that no one wears black. To honor her and make it a true celebration of Sandy, we would love to see everyone in Pastel colors. If you would like to send flowers, please send to the chapel to be enjoyed by all on the day of the service.
