She and Victor Bitar came to the USA in 1964 with nothing but a couple of suitcases and built a life and family in pursuit of the American dream and living a Christian life in a free country.
Samira received her Bachelor's degree from the American University of Beirut and then worked in the US for many years as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in a variety of hospitals. She worked retail for many of her later years, retiring from Macy's at the age of 80. Her commitment to excellence extended beyond her career, as she became a loving mother to three children, Pete, Julie and Dan, and proud grandmother to seven grandchildren : Nick, Ella, Ava, Nayla, Sam, Anisa and Eden.
She loved gardening and cooking, becoming a professional chef after going to the Horst Mager Culinary Institute in the late 80's.
Samira was survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Victor Bitar, her 3 children, Pete Bitar (and wife, Lisa Bitar), Julie Zook (and husband, Ryan Zook), and Daniel Bitar ( and wife, Monica Bitar), 7 grandchildren.. Samira was preceded in death by her parents, Nassif and Jamily Teeny and siblings, Shafiah, Elias, Jean, Joseph, Mounira and Sameer. Many nieces and nephews in the USA, Canada, Bolivia and Lebanon survive her and mourn her loss.
She was always "spicy" and loved to laugh.
Thank you to all who knew her and were part of her life. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life she led, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and faith.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Happy Valley Baptist Church, 14095 SE King Rd, Happy Valley OR 97086.
