Following graduation from high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served honorably during WWII.
Robert returned to the west coast where he met Helen Cobb. The two were married in Seattle, WA on December 31, 1941. They had two children, Tom and Roberta. They were also blessed with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
During his lifetime, Robert enjoyed reading the newspaper, visits to Spirit Mountain Casino, and trips to the dog track in Gresham. He was a member of the Sherwood Elks.
Robert passed away Dec. 3, 2010 in his home in Gresham. At his request, no services will be held. Interment will be in Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard, OR. Robert is survived by his children, Tom (wife:Sandy) MacLaren, and Roberta MacLaren; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert will always be remembered as a man who was good to his friends, and who had a dry sense of humor.
